A head with a crown,
With rows of red ruby stones,
Alternating with lines of golden tones,
Look! The Cardinal is in town.
Scarlet and black liner around the eye,
Gray- and crimson-coloured wings as they fly,
Sport a conical, coral coloured bill,
Fluffing down feathers to keep away the frosty chill.
Feeding on snails and beetles from the ground,
Snacking on corn, sunflower and oats seeds round,
Hops about in the garden, shrubland or any wetland,
Perched majestically on the ironwood trees in woodland.
